John Barry

Staff Attorney

John Barry is a Staff Attorney at Orlando Center for Justice (OCJ) working primarily on immigration and dependency cases. John spent more than 16 years working as legal counsel in the financial services sector before joining OCJ. He has been an Adjunct Professor of Immigration Law at Barry College of Law, where he enjoyed the ironic coincidence – but no additional pay – in sharing the same name as the school. During his legal career, John has provided pro bono legal representation in dozens of immigration cases and is a proud supporter of immigrant rights and humane immigration reform. John was born in Iowa and studied at The University of Iowa College of Law. He has traveled, studied, and taught around the world, is conversational in Spanish, Portuguese and French, and is able to fudge his way through German and Italian. He is also an accomplished pianist and photographer. John is firmly committed to OCJ’s goal of providing expert and affordable legal representation to our country’s newcomers.
